Welcome! I'm Roberta, one of the two providers here at Forest River Counseling. It's incredibly rewarding for me to work with you on whatever wellness goals you might have. I have a long history of working with folks dealing with both mental health issues and addiction in the Fargo-Moorhead area, and Forest River is the culmination of all that experience and collaboration.
I am well aware of how challenging it can be to start the therapy process with someone new, so let me break the ice and tell you a little bit about myself. My most important values are love and creativity, and they show up in several ways in my life. I've been with my partner and co-owner Tim for ten years, and we have a 3-year-old girl, Nora. We also have two cats, Stella and Marvey, and a rescue pup entering his golden years, Thor. I am very connected to the family I grew up with, though I lost my dad just about two years ago after a short battle with blood cancer. Advocacy and providing awareness are super important to me. I have always made art of various kinds and more recently have started dancing! I love a good podcast, going for a hike, probably at Forest River Nature Reserve (get it?), and pretty much anything with my family or friends.
Therapeutically, I am integrative in finding interventions or solutions that will work best for you. Generally, I learn towards more holistic approaches, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and body-based practices. No matter how we get there, I believe we can work together to help you onto your path toward the life you want to live.

Welcome to Forest River Counseling! My name is Tim, and I have been working as a master's level counselor here in Fargo since 2014. I have worked in many different settings over the years and have experience with both mental health and addiction-related concerns. I have specific training in dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance use concerns.
Starting the counseling process can be difficult, especially having to consider opening up to a relative stranger. For what it’s worth, I am not that intimidating :). I am a proud nerd and appreciate all things nerdy. I like movies, books, board games, comics, video games, role-playing games, anime, or really anything with a good story. I also rarely miss a Vikings game and have a love/hate relationship with fantasy football. In the winter I like watching college hockey, and rooting for the Gophers (I got my Masters at UND so I have some mixed feelings…). We named the company after our favorite park in Fargo, and I enjoy spending time outdoors with my daughter, partner Roberta, and our dog Thor.
My style of counseling leans into acceptance practices, including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, while also using Cognitive Behavioral Strategies. Essentially counseling with me would involve some initial skill building to help you feel more in control, and then helping you decide what to do next with that control. If you think we might be a good fit, I would love to hear from you at our email, hello@forestrivercounseling.com or our phone 701-289-4391. Take care out there!
